![]() I will not be renting from them again and would warn travelers in the Rapid City area to avoid Hertz They are thieves.Welcome to town! Now that you’ve landed and picked up your luggage from the baggage carousel, there’s really only one thing left to do: pick up your perfect ride. I have been a Gold Card member with Hertz for over 30 years. They did not pay for loss of use and other fees leaving us with a bill of over $700 for damage that we were not responsible for.Īs far as I'm concerned, this is a scam. Luckily, I charged the car rental on my American Express card and they paid $1300 of the amount they were charging me. Not only were we charged for the damage we did not cause, but we were charged for 7 days loss of use which in itself was incredible. You will probably be home before that happens in places like Rapid City. According to the agreement we signed, with Hertz, the renter is responsible for the car until a mechanic looks at it. We did not have an accident nor was there any damage when we left the car. ![]() 10 days later, we received a bill for $2000 from Hertz's insurance company for damage to the car. ![]() My husband left the car and returned the paperwork inside the airport. When we returned the car to the airport, there was no one in the lot. There was an auto manual in the car, but it did not cover locking the car.Īs a result, we were in and out of that trunk all day long the whole trip. For our entire trip, we could not leave valuables in the car and had to bring all of our luggage into the hotel each night. We discovered the first day that we could not lock the car with the key fob. We rented a car from the Hertz office at the Rapid City Airport in September.
